Dear Wikipedia Administrators and Editors,

I am writing as a concerned reader and contributor who values Wikipedia's role as a neutral and reliable source of information. I respectfully ask the community to discuss the reliability of certain Iranian state-affiliated outlets, including Tasnim News Agency, Fars News Agency, ISNA, and IRIB. Many of these have close ties to the Iranian government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC was designated a terrorist organization by the United States in 2019 and by the European Union in January 2026. Outlets linked to it often spread propaganda rather than independent journalism. Tasnim News Agency, directly affiliated with the IRGC, was already deprecated on English Wikipedia in 2024 for promoting state narratives and disinformation. Similar concerns apply to Fars, ISNA, and IRIB, which operate under strict government control and limited editorial independence.

On Persian Wikipedia, these sources are generally prohibited except when citing official Iranian government positions. This helps prevent bias and maintains accuracy. Consistent rules on English Wikipedia would align with precedents for other state-controlled media, such as Russian outlets like RT and Sputnik, or Iranian ones like Press TV.

Heavy reliance on these sources risks serious problems. Propaganda from them can distort global understanding of important topics, including human rights, politics, and international events. When such content enters Wikipedia articles, it misleads readers worldwide and damages the encyclopedia's credibility as a trusted resource. I have noticed patterns of coordinated editing that promote these outlets, which could undermine neutrality and harm Wikipedia's reputation.

I urge the community to address this to protect Wikipedia's integrity. Allowing propaganda to influence articles reduces public trust in the project and affects how people around the world view critical issues.

Thank you for your dedication to keeping Wikipedia accurate and neutral. Your volunteer work is surely appreciated.
